Autonomous Energy was selected by Hornsby Shire Council through a competitive public tender process to expand the existing 20kW solar power system on Hornsby Shire Council’s Main Library to a 98kW solar power system.  The solar PV system was commissioned in January 2015 is made up of high-efficiency monocrystalline panels manufactured by LG, solar specific, engineered mounting frames manufactured in Germany by Schletter and the latest model of inverters from SMA, the world’s leading inverter manufacturer. This system was carefully designed in consultation with a structural engineer to the same high standards that allowed the previous system, also designed and installed by Autonomous Energy, to famously survive a mini-tornado which affected Hornsby in November 2013.  The modules were also carefully positioned on the roof to avoid any losses due to shading from the numerous pieces of existing plant and equipment also installed on the roof.

Solar Power at Randwick City Council

In June 2013 Autonomous Energy designed, supplied and installed a 30kW turnkey Solar Power system on Randwick City Council’s Bowen Library in Maroubra.

Unique Construction Methodology

This Solar Power system has been installed without creating any penetrations to the membrane coated flat concrete roof, thus ensuring that the waterproof membrane is not affected by the installation of the Solar Panels. This was achieved using an innovative ‘ballast mounting’ system, which was custom designed and engineered by a multidisciplinary team including engineers from Autonomous Energy, Schletter and Partridge.

Solar Power at MLC School in Burwood Sydney

“Autonomous Energy has been instrumental in facilitating the solar power PV project at MLC School. MLC School decided to get the largest system possible which meant we needed to work with a company that has had extensive experience in the design, engineering and implementation of larger PV systems. We also wanted to work with a company that had a broad understanding of sustainability. One of the key selection criteria Autonomous Energy successfully fulfilled was their demonstrated ability and resources to coordinate the install and undertake the install directly and not sub contract it out. Autonomous Energy adopted a holistic approach to the project from the outset. Autonomous Energy has a solid reputation amongst the school community, which gave us confidence in their ability to deliver on the proposal they put forward to the School. Testament to the success of the install is the fact that the MLC School will now consult Autonomous Energy on any future renewable energy projects the School undertakes.”
