Matthew has spent his entire career in renewable energy after being one of the first graduates from UNSW’s undergraduate photovoltaic engineering program. After working for two solar panel manufacturers and completing a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Matthew joined Autonomous Energy as Engineering Director in 2007. Matthew is primarily responsible for ensuring consistency and quality across the solar and energy solutions design and delivery teams. He’s passionate about the details and believes that it is just as important to get the small details right as the big ticket items. With several years’ experience installing on site, Matthew has a strong appreciation for the importance of the ‘nuts and bolts’ of a system and encourages our engineering and project management teams to spend as much time as possible on site learning the ‘real world’ side of things and expanding their knowledge. Over the last 7 years Matthew has spearheaded the continuous improvement of Autonomous Energy’s Quality, Safety and Environmental management systems. He takes great pride in Autonomous Energy’s industry leading track record in all three of these areas and continues to play a strong role in ensuring that we are always achieving best practice and are never content to settle with mere compliance. Matthew loves the outdoors, diving and the natural environment and feels driven and motivated to help the push towards sustainable energy in the hope that the great natural wonders of the world will be maintained for future generations.
As a Co-op Scholar Alumni from UNSW’s Solar PV Engineering school, Ying originally joined Autonomous Energy as a Solar PV engineer. Over the years Ying has been instrumental in delivering key design projects for some of our biggest clients, in the capacity of Solar Project Manager. Having recently been promoted to Head of Solar Design, Ying now leads the Solar Design Team responsible for the detailed engineering design of innovative solar energy solutions. The Solar Design department is a team of experts from multidisciplinary engineering backgrounds, eager to ensure that Autonomous Energy continues to set the benchmark for innovation, quality and performance in solar engineering across Australia.
