Solar Car Park Shading
Throughout 2018, we worked with Laser Electrical to deliver a solar car park shading system for the Department of Justice at the Hopkins Correctional Centre in Ararat. Ararat is a city in south-west Victoria, approximately 198 km west of Melbourne.  We were appointed to design and install a solar car park shading system for their visitors car park.

The project commenced in March 2018. Installation of the panels took place from August and the system was commissioned on 20 August 2018.

The system was carefully designed by our experienced solar PV engineers to maximise energy generation, and the project was delivered to the highest levels of Safety, Quality and Performance.

Autonomous Energy solution

  • The system features 488 solar panels, installed for a total DC power of 212kW.
  • The solar panels have been installed on custom made steel structures, designed and tailored to adapt to the geometry of the car park.
  • The solar car park shading structure provides weather protection for 67 cars.
  • Over a 6 month period Autonomous Energy was responsible for coordinating a variety of contractors across the construction site.
