Inaburra School is a leading Christian school located in Bangor in southern Sydney. Throughout 2018 and into 2019 Autonomous Energy has worked closely with Inaburra School to carry out a comprehensive Energy Efficiency upgrade. This comprehensive project involved an LED Lighting Upgrade - completed in July - along with the installation of an Energy Submetering and Visualisation system - which was completed in early January 2019.
Autonomous Energy first worked with Inaburra School in 2014 when we designed and installed a 95kW Solar PV System. The system was expanded in mid 2018, when an additional 195kW system was installed. To learn more about the Solar PV System, please click here.

Autonomous Energy solution
LED Lighting Upgrade (July 2018)
- Autonomous Energy carried out an LED lighting upgrade trial for three classrooms in order to demonstrate the improved lighting conditions and energy savings that a full LED upgrade would deliver.
- Following this, Autonomous Energy scoped and designed a comprehensive whole school LED lighting upgrade. This accepted design involved replacing internal and external outdated incumbent fluorescent technologies with high quality LED luminaires.
- The implementation resulted in energy savings and improved lighting performance for all learning spaces.
- The current draw - before and after the implementation - was recorded in order to measure and verify energy savings achieved by the upgrade.
Energy Submetering and Visualisation System (January 2019)
- In conjunction with the solar PV system and LED lighting install, Autonomous Energy scoped and provided an Energy Submetering and Visualisation System.
- A SimbleSense cloud-based energy and analytics platform was provided, which enables real-time information and monitoring of energy data. This platform allows the school to glean a clear understanding of the nature of their energy consumption, as well as generation via the solar PV system.
- Submeters were judiciously installed in electrical distribution boards throughout the school. These submeters communicate wirelessly in real-time with the SimbleSense platform and relay energy consumption and production data which is collated and clearly presented via the SimbleSense dashboard.
- The Submetering System delivers the following:
- Accurate, real-time monitoring of energy consumption
- The ability to obtain real time energy usage
- The ability to identify and eliminate wasted energy
- Accumulation and review of energy data - which allows for comparison of usage over time
- Allows Site Managers to be better informed - enabling them to make decisions that help optimise system performance
- Allows early knowledge of maintenance issues for repair before critical equipment fails
