Parkes Shire Council engaged Autonomous Energy to deliver 2 x 107.5kW ground mounted solar power systems, one at the new Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and one at the new Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). These solar PV systems form an integral part of Parkes Shire Council’s wider sustainability strategy for both the reduction of its carbon footprint and a buffer against rising electricity prices. The construction of the solar PV systems was integrated into the construction of both treatment plants.

We managed the construction of both sites simultaneously whilst also meeting the strict safety requirements of both the Council and the principal contractor, John Holland. Following the successful commissioning of both systems, we were engaged to expand the system at the STP by a further 190kW. We installed a 125kW export control on this system to comply with the Network authority’s requirements, although most electricity will be used onsite to offset consumption. In order to ensure the highest quality, safety and performance standards were adhered to, one of our site managers was on site in Parkes at all times.
