In November 2015 Autonomous Energy installed a 100kW solar power system at Rosebank College across the S, O and M Block roofs. A detailed structural engineering analysis of the roofs showed that the O-Block roof had a limited capacity to support solar modules. This was accounted for in Autonomous Energy’s final solar design to ensure that no roofs were overloaded.
Autonomous Energy solution
- All solar engineering and installation works were performed by Autonomous Energy’s in-house teams with no subcontracting at all. This approach facilitates the most effective quality and safety management possible.
- The system comprises of 384 x 260W high quality Jinko solar modules, 4 x Fronius three-phase inverters and an online solar data monitoring system.
- The inverters and solar distribution board on this site were installed in the loft space in O-Block. The AC submain cables were run down three floors, through existing cable infrastructure and underground in order to connect to a main distribution board. This means that there are minimal energy losses when the solar power is distributed throughout the school.
- The system features an online solar data monitoring system so that students, staff and the school community can gain insight into the performance of the solar power system. The online solar data monitoring system is also used by Autonomous Energy to monitor the system and ensure that it performs as expected.
