Since 2016 Autonomous Energy have delivered 5 high-quality solar PV systems for The King’s School, comprising 3 STC (Small-scale Technology Certificate) eligible systems and 2 LGC (Large-scale Generation Certificate) eligible systems, with the latest system completed in 2022. In total, we have installed 491kW of solar for The King’s School, making a significant reduction to their energy bills and allowing them to generate clean, renewable energy on-site. We were also engaged to carry out a quality audit and defect rectification of solar systems installed by others. The King’s School have now entered into a 5-year agreement with Autonomous Energy for service and maintenance of all solar systems at this site.
These installations presented numerous challenges, including strict limitations on access and construction periods, steep 30-degree roof pitches, difficult cable runs and a requirement for zero penetration of the roof sheeting.. Despite these limitations, the Autonomous Energy team designed and installed five bespoke solar PV systems which maintain the aesthetic appearance of the well-renowned education precinct.
The STC systems have been designed at the limit of STC eligibility, maximising government rebates. Being situated on separate NMIs, the three systems are all eligible for the STC rebate, yielding an extremely attractive levelised-cost of energy and payback period for the systems. The LGC systems also present an attractive financial incentive for solar uptake.
The Autonomous Energy team worked tirelessly with staff, P&C members and the local community to ensure all stakeholders felt engaged and heard during the design and construction process.
