Autonomous Energy the ONLY Double Finalist in 2018 CEC Awards

We are very proud to announce that Autonomous Energy is the ONLY company with multiple projects progressing to Finalist stage in the 2018 CEC Solar Design and Installation Awards. In the ‘over 240kW’ category, the 2.2MW rooftop solar system installed at Sydney Markets has been recognised. The beauty of this project lies underneath the surface, with an amazing level of detail in the quality and safety of the design and installation which was completed by our in-house installation team. In the ‘under 30kW stand-alone PV power system’ category, the second Autonomous Energy project to be selected, is our ground-breaking Solar Trees project for Werribee Open Range Zoo in Melbourne. This creative, first-of-its-kind solar installation, inspired by the African thorn tree, aesthetically integrates with the surrounding landscape, making use of great materials including recycled hardwood and bifacial panels.

The 2018 winners will be announced 3rd October. Congratulations to our talented solar design and install teams, and to all other Finlaists.

Autonomous Energy appointed to Solar PPA Provider Panel

Autonomous Energy are proud to be appointed to the NSW Government’s prequalified panel of Solar PPA providers. Congratulations to everyone at the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage on implementing this socially and environmentally advantageous program with all it’s complexities. This represents a true breakthrough in the way local councils and NSW government agencies can procure pollution-free, onsite solar electricity, whilst saving the taxpayer money and not having to invest any capital to build this important infrastructure. In collaboration with our partners, its exciting for us to be closely involved in the rollout of solar PV under innovative PPA structures.

Official 'Go-Live' Ceremony at Sydney’s Flemington Markets

Sydney’s largest solar power system went ‘live’ yesterday at the iconic Sydney Markets. The official opening ceremony was attended by Sydney Markets Ltd executives, the Minister for Planning, Anthony Roberts, Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, Autonomous Energy executives and media. The Sydney Markets solar project now produces an incredible 3.2MW of power from approximately 8,600 solar panels. The complex roll-out involved 4  project phases and was designed and built by Autonomous Energy and installed exclusively by our in-house installation team.

Sydney Markets Flicks The Switch On Massive Solar Installation

Working closely with the Sydney’s Flemington Markets team, Autonomous Energy has turned on Australia’s largest private rooftop solar installation. The project took about 5 months to complete and will shave millions of dollars off Sydney Markets power bills. The total installed solar systems – which includes a smaller set of panels over the newly-built carpark – consists of nearly 8,600 solar panels and generates more than 3 megawatts - providing about 11 per cent of the group's annual power consumption. It is the equivalent of providing enough energy to power approximately 730 homes each year.

Sydney Airport’s New Solar Car Park Up and Running

Great to see Sydney Airport’s new solar car park up and running. Installed on the 12th storey of the northern carpark at the international terminal, our solution involved a custom designed and built structure that resulted in the ability to safely install a much larger PV system than would be possible with an ‘off the shelf’ solution. Notably we installed 45 tonnes of steel, 25.2 tonnes of aluminium, 1800 special low reflectivity PV modules and an integrated LED car park lighting system. Hats off to Autonomous Energy’s engineering and installation teams, Lend Lease and Sydney Airport for working so well together in delivering this innovative clean energy solution.

Finalist - University of Southern Queensland’s (USQ) Solar Car Park

We are excited to announce that one of our recent projects – the solar car park at the University of Southern Queensland – is a Finalist in this year’s CEC Solar Design and Installation Awards. This will be the largest solar carpark in Australia and a project of which we are immensely proud. The CEC Solar Design and Installation Awards recognise excellence in the design and installation of solar projects nationwide and are Australia's premier solar awards. This is truly a ground-breaking project and we look forward to hearing the CEC judging panel's decision at the upcoming presentation ceremony.

Autonomous Energy to roll-out High Efficiency Solar PV at Barangaroo

Working with Lend Lease, Autonomous Energy will design and install a large super high efficiency solar power system, covering the roof of the ground breaking new International House Sydney building which is nearing completion at Barangaroo, Sydney.

This will be Australia’s first engineered multistory timber office and Lend Lease is setting a new benchmark in the use of sustainable building materials with this development. Constructed with wood, Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) has a far lower carbon footprint than other building materials, the production process produces zero waste, and timbers are sourced from certified sustainably managed forests. Autonomous Energy will be installing 348 new 320W LG Neon solar modules all controlled with SolarEdge panel level optimization technology, optimally managing and reducing the impact of partial shading from the surrounding buildings. The modules will be installed using Schletter’s brand new flat roof solar mounting system with optimized superimposed load equipment called AluGrid – this will be the first time this new product is used in Australia.

Massive 911kW Solar Carpark Shading System at Sydney Markets

Autonomous Energy today announced that it is delivering phase three of Sydney Market’s solar carpark shading roll out, bringing the total solar carpark shading capacity at the markets to 911kW, by far the largest purpose-built solar carpark shading system in Australia. This ground breaking industrial scale solar power system will be installed on the top floor of a new multistorey carpark which is currently under construction at the famous Sydney Markets at Flemington.

The detailed design, engineering, planning and approval phase is now completed with onsite construction to commence in early June 2016. Autonomous Energy’s solar engineering team has carefully designed and specified this customised solar carpark shading system for maximum solar generation performance, carpark amenity and aesthetically pleasing appearance. The structural components themselves are being manufactured in Germany to Autonomous Energy's specifications by specialised solar carpark equipment manufacturer Schletter. The solar carpark structure features weather proof soffit sheeting under the solar panels and a complete guttering and drainage system, providing customers with protection from rain as well as the hot sun.

Phase three of this project features over 2,000 LG MonoX NeON 2 Solar panels which each have a rated peak output of 315watts. LG Neon solar panels have recently been proven at multiple independent research and testing facilities in Australia, including by CSIRO on behalf of choice magazine, to be the best performing solar panel available in the market. The LG Neon is so advanced that it absorbs light from the front and the back of its solar cells with its bi-facial cells and CELLO technology (multi-wire 12 busbar technology). This technology sets a new standard for innovation and was recognised with the 2015 Photovoltaic Innovation Award at the Intersolar Industry Event in Germany.

This project is designed and managed by Autonomous Energy’s experienced in-house solar engineering team and 100% of the construction will be undertaken by Autonomous Energy’s in-house solar installation team. Such a genuine end to end turnkey project delivered entirely by a singular solar EPC company with no subcontracting is virtually unheard of in the Australian market for projects of this scale – outside of Autonomous Energy.

Autononomous Energy selected by Waverley Council for solar roll-out

After a rigorous public tender process Waverley Council have selected Autonomous Energy as their solar power Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner to design and install solar PV systems across five Council buildings.

“After the successful delivery of solar power rollouts for neighbouring councils Woollahra and Randwick, Autonomous Energy is delighted to be working with Waverley Council to deliver high performance solar power systems across a range of council assets” commented Mark Gadd, Managing Director of Autonomous Energy. “It’s great to see Local Government continuing to lead the uptake of renewable energy within the Government sector in Australia, demonstrating the validity of ‘thinking globally and acting locally’”. The project is scheduled for completion in late June 2016 and all works will be completed by Autonomous Energy’s own in-house solar engineering and installation teams.
