In 2013 Autonomous Energy was appointed by Randwick City Council to design, supply and install a 30kW Solar PV system and online Data Monitoring System for the Bowen Library in Maroubra. The system features 140 high efficiency Kyocera solar modules and three phase inverters manufactured by SMA. The Bowen Library features a flat concrete roof with a waterproof membrane therefore the installation must not make any penetrations to the membrane-coated roof. Working with German solar mounting company Schletter, Autonomous Energy engineers have designed an innovative and custom-made solution which enables the solar modules to be mounted on special frames that are weighed down by ballast; combined with wind deflectors the need for roof penetrations are avoided entirely. An online solar data monitoring system was integrated and a display screen was installed in the Library's lobby which visualises the solar PV system performance in real time.
